On June 8, 2026, a powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the island of Mindanao, devastating its southern regions. The tremor caused widespread destruction, with more than a million people reported to have been affected. Homes and public structures collapsed, leaving families displaced and vulnerable. Churches—long regarded as safe havens and community centers—were reduced to rubble. Many pastors and their families were forced to live in makeshift tents, fearing that their homes might collapse during the frequent aftershocks. Ministries across the region were temporarily suspended as communities struggled to secure food, shelter, and safety.

Recognizing the urgent need, Agape Gospel Mission, in partnership with IBMF–Philippines, mobilized relief efforts on June 17, 2026. The team journeyed into the remote mountain communities of the T’boli tribe, where support was scarce and access was difficult. Despite the challenging terrain and ongoing tremors, we were able to assist in the reconstruction of seven churches that had been severely damaged. These churches are not only places of worship but also serve as vital gathering points for spiritual encouragement and community support.

With the help of AGMS, we distributed 25 kilograms of rice to each of 53 pastors, along with cash assistance to help sustain their families during this crisis. Additionally, eight Bible school students—young men and women committed to pursuing God’s calling despite the dangers—received financial support. Their perseverance in continuing their studies amidst uncertainty is a testimony of faith and resilience.

On June 19, 2026, our final day in the mountains, we conducted a seminar designed to uplift and empower pastors who were discouraged by the destruction around them. The seminar also sought to reignite the passion of church members who were hesitant to enter damaged buildings, reminding them that the Church is not confined to walls but is the living body of Christ. Together, we reaffirmed that we are one body serving the One True God, even in times of trial.
